The Cleveland Guardians traded Josh Naylor to the Arizona Diamondbacks and promptly replaced his bat in the lineup by reuniting with Carlos Santana. Speaking of first baseman, the Yankees continued their torrid offseason by signing Paul Goldschmidt to a one-year deal. Cam Booser also changed the colour of socks, going from Boston to Chicago.
But the biggest bombshell of all was that Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson, the Man of Steal, the fastest man on earth, and franchise icon for the Oakland Athletics died at 65. No cause of death was given, but his family reported it as pneumonia.
While Blue Jay fans, and the rest of the world, remember the goat of the base paths, Jays fans patiently wait for the next big move.
MLB Insider Mark Feinsand had reported that Hernandez was looking for a two year deal somewhere in the range of $22M, well within the Blue Jays budget.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are also interested, though St. Louis is not known to be actively shopping their closer.
While they are unlikely to trade their All-Star shortstop, apparently the Los Angeles Dodgers, one of the few teams that could the Jays steep asking price, are interested. It is unknown whether or not any talks have actually happened.
While fans shouldn't expect any major deals to happen before Christmas day, stranger things have happened.
