Apparently, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is bad at baseball.

Okay, okay that isn't true. Vlad can play baseball and does so very well

According to one stat though, he is dead last in the league in an important skill: baserunning.

The new metric, called Baserunning Run Value, calculates each player's «total baserunning impact» by combining stolen bases and extra bases taken into one all-encompassing number.

For the Blue Jays, the majority of the team fell in between +1 to -1. Essentially, most players had a impact on the basepaths.

But Vladdy isn't your average player and his play clearly impacts everything. Yes, even negatively. The slugging first baseman's BRV came out to -6. What does that mean exactly?

What that number tells us is that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. cost the Blue Jays approximately 6 runs while running.

The player with the most impact running is Corbin Carroll, who had a BRV score of 12.

Blue Jays fans have witnessed the wannabe Forrest Gump's adventures on the basepaths before. In 2022, he was called out by John Schneider for his effort in a loss to the New York Yankees. Then, in game 2 of the Wild Card Series against the Minnesota Twins in 2023, he was picked off first base.

There is no question that Vladdy is an elite player. If he is able to stretch his hamstrings, tweak his quads, and improve his baserunning abilities, his value as a player will only grow.

He's never going to be Usain Bolt, but at least he'll be able to stay on base.
